Surprise! HA! You didn't expected this one did'ya people?
I couldn't finish the last drawing I wanted to finish before scanning this and another drawing and at some point I said "Aww... f*ck it! Let's scan what I already have because this one (The lineart still half-way complete) is gonna take a long while due to de-motivation".
So I scanned what I had already done and decided to work on it.
Here we see an argentine soldier holding a "pimped" FN FAL (With EOTech and foregrip and a self-made-up RIS).
The soldier is part of a larger group (off-screen) carrying out a patrol in the northern Andes in the border of former Bolivia currently under occupation of the USSR (Union of Southamerican Socialist Republics.... yeah.... go figure!
). Yeah obviously this is not a representation of reality... this is more like another of my fiction-based artworks.
(Part of my "yet-to-be put in paper" WW3 series).
Anyway... I've included a vector artwork of a AH-1Z viper (Which is not
in the Argentine Army Aviation inventory.... yet anyway). I think it went rather good. This is also to kindof protest against the Army's deccision to not purchase a small fleet of AH-1 Cobras (The old versions) and instead they went to finance that new crappy helicopter known as the Aguilucho. Sin afan de ofender... pero los Cobra habrian quedado mejor como fuerza de disuación en vez de ese nuevo helicoptero ligero.
In case you're wondering... the soldier is wearing a real-life camouflage known as "Patagonia DPM" which is loosely based on the british desert DPM but still quite different from it. An expert eye will notice the differences. It took me a whole bloody morning working on that camouflage pattern....
I really should do a DPM camo brush for PhotoShop so that my job gets easier.
I considered other camo patterns for this artwork such as the modern MARPAT and the older 3-color and 6 color desert camouflage patterns from the US. But I thought showing off a rather unknown camouflage would be interesting. Here's an article about the Patagonia DPM: [link]
For this work I decided to use some special brushes to make a faster work. Not much really. I used clouds and spark brushes from brush master
Well.... I still have one more lineart to color in PhotoShop and upload here. However after I'm done with that I'm afraid I will not be working on anything new for a while. The MW2 fanart project has really let me down big time and it's still on the table demanding me to be finished but I feel so low in morale to do so.
But hey.... morale can go up.
I hope you guys like this work. Might be the last one of this size and quality for a good while since college is going to suck away my time (That and the growing addiction to MW2 Multiplayer
See'ya in the Battlefield!
